Are you going for a Nuclear STRESS TESTS also known as a Myocardial Perfusion Scan, Dye test, Thallium or MIBI Scan?
Why do stress tests it miss 34% of people with heart disease.
Stress tests are a good starting test to do because it will tell us your current fitness level. As you may or may not know, we preach exercise is the best medicine. It will also looks for advanced stages of heart disease. Yes, only advanced stages of heart disease. What does this mean? Your arteries have to be significantly blocked (like 80% or more) to show up on an exercise stress test. This is why it can miss 34% of people with heart disease (66% sensitivity).
We (and the research) do NOT like your prognosis from a stress test. Why?

2. You are going to go on for further testing. Such as a nuclear stress tests (also known as a Myocardial Perfusion Scan, thallium or MIBI scan). This test has increased radiation (~750 chest x-rays) and a radioactive dye that will set off the alarm detectors at the airport without even going through the alarm detectors.
